Junk Mail (Election Leaflets)

Empty letters, asking please
could someone somehow
make this stop. The gates we build
never could choke out the noise.
Envelopes full of musings,
voters wondering how
knives and beatings considered sport
among those youth inflicted by boredom.
Letter boxes stung by hoodlums,
thugs, mobs, gangs and crowds,
rival wars and invaded turfs.

Paying taxes to be taxed
by these wasted youths on my doorstep.
Are we too cynical, councillor,
or should they all get jobs?
Do you have jobs to give them?
Has anyone come up
with a solution yet?

Yours faithfully,
                          Troubled street.
